🇫🇷 Paris: The City of Love and Unforgettable Emotions

Before diving into the detailed itineraries, here is our “Top 10” list of iconic and unmissable Parisian beauties:

The undisputed queen and protagonist of Paris is undoubtedly the Eiffel Tower, which you can admire in various ways. Another privileged point is along the Seine: seeing Paris from the river, perhaps on a beautiful cruise, allows you to view both the Eiffel Tower and the bridges—a true postcard image. Don’t miss the aerial view from the Montparnasse Tower, especially in the evening.

Paris is also about magnificent gardens, charming corners, prestigious museums, and Versailles! Among the neighborhoods, Montmartre, home to the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, is unmissable. Notable museums include the Musée d’Orsay and the Louvre Museum. Finally, there are the culinary and social experiences: a stroll on the Champs-Élysées, a dinner at Le Relais de L’Entrecôte, and, if you have more days, Disneyland Paris.

Here is a list of its most iconic and unmissable beauties:

  1. Eiffel Tower : The undisputed star and queen of Paris. It can be admired in various ways and from different angles, with the Champ de Mars being the classic and usual vantage point.
  2. Seine River Cruise : Seeing Paris from the Seine, perhaps on a cruise, offers a privileged vantage point to admire both the Eiffel Tower and the bridge spanning the river, creating a postcard-perfect image.
  3. Montparnasse Tower : Offers a view of the Eiffel Tower from above, especially spectacular at night when the entire city is lit up. It’s considered an absolute must-see in Paris.
  4. Palace of Versailles : A visit option not to be missed.
  5. Montmartre : A charming neighborhood that is home to the Sacré-Cœur basilica and is known as the artists’ quarter.
  6. Musée d’Orsay : A remarkable museum, particularly appreciated for the works of artists such as Van Gogh , Paul Gauguin and the Impressionists.
  7. Louvre Museum : One of the prestigious museums that enrich Paris.
  8. Evening on the Champs-Élysées : An experience included in the Day 1 itinerary for a 3-day stay.
  9. Dinner at Le Relais de L’Entrecôte : A great choice for dinner, recommended on the Day 2 itinerary.
  10. Disneyland Paris : If you have 5 days available, you can add this magical destination to your program to see Sleeping Beauty’s castle and attend wonderful shows.

☀️ Our Summer Story: Paris, Beautiful in Every Season

Paris is a city that provides emotions at any time of year, but visiting it during the summer months, such as August, offers unique opportunities. We had this experience a few years ago.

If, like us, you explore the city in this period, you will find that the heat is manageable, allowing you to dress lightly and enjoy long walks. We appreciated the long daylight hours, exploring even the most iconic places.

One mode of transport we tried was using a rented scooter. We rode long stretches along the Seine. The experience was fun and relaxing… for those who are capable! Being right next to the water, I had the fear of falling in! The experience went smoothly and was worth it, despite initially having some difficulty because my scooter was a bit faulty. Despite this minor inconvenience, it turned out well! For those who prefer, the same route can easily be done on foot, enjoying the walk in complete safety.

The Seine River banks in Paris, perfect for walking or scootering, featuring trees and people relaxing by the river.
The Seine River banks: a perfect place for relaxing strolls or, as we did, a fun scooter adventure!

Of course, visiting Paris in August means encountering many people and preparing for some long queues, especially for museums. Despite this, we managed to fully enjoy the city and its beauties.

The Authentic Parisian Dolce Vita and Must-Try Delights

Beyond walks and cruises, Paris is undoubtedly the city of cafés. One of its most iconic features is the outdoor tables and chairs, often protected by characteristic red (or other colors) awnings. This is a wholly Parisian experience: if you need to rest for a moment, you can always enjoy a coffee in one of these spots. There are many of them, some more famous, like the celebrated Café de Flore, and others less so, all offering a unique experience.

An Unforgettable Dinner: L’Entrecôte and Friendship at the Table

Another truly unforgettable experience, one I’ll always remember, was dinner at Le Relais de L’Entrecôte . This restaurant is famous for its unique dish: entrecôte ( sirloin), served with fries and a side salad. The characteristic of these establishments, like many Parisian places, is that the space is limited compared to the number of people.

For this reason, we sat very close to our neighbors, so much so that we became friends: we went in two and came out four! It was a truly unforgettable moment. In addition to the social experience, the food was excellent, and the entrecôte prices were also affordable compared to the Parisian average, which isn’t always the best.

Don’t miss the classic Parisian Steak Frites (Entrecôte with thin fries)—the perfect fuel for a day of sightseeing!

In the evening, when temperatures get cooler, even if we haven’t suffered from the heat, you can indulge in another authentic gastronomic experience. There’s nothing better than a delicious warm crepe from one of the many stalls or kiosks dotting the city.

A perfect treat for a cool evening: a delicious hot crêpe. Here is Gabriel enjoying this authentic Parisian experience under the red, characteristic sign of the “Crêpes de Saint-Germain” kiosk.

And speaking of delicacies, you simply have to indulge in the famous macarons! We, for example, couldn’t resist: we picked up some in Montmartre and, between samplings, realized we’d already eaten quite a few before remembering to take a picture of the box (which is why, when I took the photo, the box was a bit empty, as you can see!).

One of the most beautiful and unforgettable experiences was definitely the cruise on the Seine, which we took during the day. Our tour was special because it included a giant, delicious baguette, which we could eat right on the boat.

The pleasant August weather was ideal for spending time outdoors on the cruise ship. While Gabriel was relaxed, enjoying his baguette, admiring the view, and listening to the multilingual commentary provided on board, I was more active, enjoying taking photos and so on. Anyway, I ate the baguette too! Being able to admire all the iconic sights that overlook this important river was wonderful. Plus, let’s not forget that the Eiffel Tower itself is located right next to the river, offering a unique perspective to admire it even from the water.

The Eiffel Tower: The Queen of Paris from Every Angle

The Eiffel Tower is the true protagonist of Paris. During our trip, we admired it in all its facets.

First, we had the classic experience of seeing it during the day from the Champs de Mars Gardens. We also went up to the top and had lunch directly on the Eiffel Tower, a moment we will surely carry in our hearts.

What is the absolute best spot for iconic Eiffel Tower photos and must-have selfies?

The classic, always breathtaking Champ de Mars Gardens! This is where we captured our perfect shot (as you can see here with Gabriel). For a grander, elevated perspective that includes the fountains, you definitely shouldn’t miss the Trocadéro.

What is the best time to go up the Eiffel Tower?

The Tower is not always visible, and for this very reason, it offers unexpected moments of great emotion, like the one Gabriel experienced near Gare Montparnasse. This leads to the ultimate question for any visitor: is it better to go up the Eiffel Tower at night or during the day? We’ve dedicated an entire article to help you decide!

The Magic of Sparkling Lights and the Benefits of Summer

If the Eiffel Tower is magnificent during the day, in the evening it is a true sparkling jewel! We still remember the excitement of seeing it illuminated and waiting for the light show that starts every hour.

Since it was August, even standing outside to wait for the show was a pleasure thanks to the nice evening temperatures. We enjoyed this spectacle from several privileged points:

  1. From the Montparnasse Tower, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of all of Paris, including the sparkling Eiffel Tower.
  2. From our accommodation. Our apartment was in the center, which meant it was very small (typical of Parisian accommodation on a normal budget). However, the central location allowed us to walk and reach the Eiffel Tower easily, letting us enjoy the light show almost every evening.

A Tip for Disneyland Paris

If you plan to visit Disneyland Paris, summer is certainly one of the best times. Unlike other parks (like those in Florida), the climate in Paris is not as stable, and the Park’s opening hours can vary significantly due to seasonality.

When you visit, you need time for attractions, shows, and parades! Therefore, if you go during a period when the park is open longer, like summer, you can allow yourself more hours of magic. We advise you to always check the opening and closing times on the official Disneyland Paris website before departing.

🍁 Autumn Atmosphere and Sensations

After sharing with you our experience from a few years ago in the height of summer, it is time to update the picture with a more recent trip in autumn, between 10 and 12 October 2025 .

This time, the exceptional reporter was Gabriel , who traveled to Paris for a few days. Although it wasn’t a firsthand experience for me, Gabriel regularly travels with me and seized the opportunity (along with two other adventure companions) to be my “eyes” in the city. Under my guidance, he captured the key aspects of this period, the atmosphere, and the beauty that autumn has to offer, in a visual comparison with the summer Paris we’d already visited together.

Unusual Weather: The Importance of Dressing in Layers

Before leaving, Gabriel was a little worried about what to pack, fearing the cool climate typical of Parisian autumn. My advice was to pack layers . Autumn, in fact, is a season that always holds surprises, and the weather is no longer 100% predictable.

And so it was: despite the weather forecast predicting rain in the previous days, Gabriel and his friends were surprised by very pleasant and mild temperatures , almost abnormal for the time of year. They walked a lot and, at times, even had to take off their jackets because it was hot.

This is a crucial detail to note: even if you’re visiting Paris in October or autumn, it’s essential to dress in layers and bring both light and warm clothing, as the weather can be unpredictable. Don’t blindly trust the weather forecast!

Can you still enjoy dining and coffee at an outdoor café terrace in Paris during the autumn or winter months?

Absolutely! Parisians love eating al fresco, and most cafés provide heated, covered terraces with awnings (as seen here in November) so you can enjoy the atmosphere and people-watching year-round.

Paris: a few hours but many emotions

Having limited time to visit the city due to other commitments in Paris, Gabriel preferred to walk and enjoy the city rather than focus on the many attractions. Even if you only have a few days, the best thing to do is walk and enjoy the city , looking around and absorbing the sensations and atmosphere.

Here I bring you Gabriel’s itinerary, reflections and sensations.

Autumn Enchantment: Lights, Colors, and a Scent of the Holidays

Paris, during this autumnal season, transforms into an enchantment of lights and colors. The city is already preparing for the Christmas holidays. Strolling through its streets, you can feel a magical atmosphere, made even more evocative by the lights that adorn the city. The overall atmosphere was light, tranquil, and well-organized.

The unusually mild temperatures for the season invite you to enjoy the city on foot or by bicycle, amidst the casually moving people. Autumn colors paint the streets, creating a charming contrast with the blue and red signs of the restaurants, which offer a wide range of cuisines, from traditional French to ethnic.

A true Parisian moment: a lone walker and a classic corner café. The city’s charm is found in the simple, everyday atmosphere!

As you approach Notre Dame , the cathedral’s majesty stands out against the sky, a true architectural gem. The Marais neighborhood , with its bohemian charm, invites you to lose yourself in its narrow streets, discovering small cafes and bistros where you can stop for a coffee, tea, or beer with friends, fully savoring the magic of Paris in autumn.

Starting from the Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel & Conference Center , Gabriel and his companions walked along Rue Froidevaux , then along the tree-lined Boulevard Pastor. This was an unforgettable experience: Boulevard Pastor gave them a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower , which stood majestically on the horizon at 300 meters high. An unforgettable experience, which made their walk even more special.

Autumn Enchantment in Two Half Days

Everything that Gabriel was able to admire was visited in just two half days: a Friday afternoon and a Saturday morning .

First Half Day (Friday Afternoon)

During this autumnal period, Paris transforms into an enchantment of lights and colors, already preparing for the Christmas holidays. The overall atmosphere was light, tranquil, and well-organized .

The beautiful Parisian life at sunset: Gabriel’s evening walk showed that the autumn season offers unexpectedly stunning views!

Reflections and Itinerary:

  • The walk began by exploring the Pont Saint-Louis area , the heart of the Île Saint-Louis.
  • We then walked along much of Rue Vieille du Temple , immersing ourselves in the bohemian charm of the Marais district and admiring the autumn colours.
  • As they walked, darkness began to fall, and arriving in front of Notre Dame was a magical moment: the majesty of the cathedral stood out against the sky, now fully illuminated, a true architectural jewel.
  • Along the way, stop at one of the small cafés and bistros in the Marais to enjoy a coffee, tea, or beer with friends, fully savoring the magic of Paris in autumn.

⚠️ Important: Check & Reservation (Notre Dame)

Following the reconstruction, access to Notre Dame Cathedral, although free, requires a mandatory (also free) reservation via the official website.

Always remember to check the current status, opening hours, and reservation requirements here:Notre-Dame de Paris Official Website

Second Half Day (Saturday Morning)

The second half-day (Saturday morning) was dedicated to a more focused walk, culminating with the arrival at the Champ de Mars and the Eiffel Tower, the final destination. Despite being an imposing icon, the Tower is not always visible, and for this very reason, it offers unexpected moments of great emotion.

This is what happened to Gabriel and his friends at Gare Montparnasse 17 on Blvd de Vaugirard: the sudden discovery of the Eiffel Tower, which appeared on the horizon during their walk, was a magical and unforgettable moment captured in photographs.

The unexpected moment! Gabriel and his friends suddenly spotted the Eiffel Tower appearing on the horizon during their walk near Gare Montparnasse.

Reflections and Itinerary:

  • Departure from the Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel & Conference Center .
  • Stroll along Rue Froidevaux , immersed in the autumnal magic, and then walk along the tree-lined Boulevard Pastor .
  • The greatest thrill came at a specific point along the way: as they were walking and nearing the Gare Montparnasse (at 17 Blvd de Vaugirard), they turned around and found themselves facing the Eiffel Tower, tall and majestic, looming over the horizon! This moment of surprise and unexpected awe touched Gabriel. He took a photo right then and there.
  • Once they arrived at the Champ de Mars, the classic arrival point, they couldn’t help but immortalize the moment with a nice selfie of the three of them together, with the Eiffel Tower in the background!

Saturday Night

The day, filled with strolls and unexpected discoveries, could only end with a classic and charming Parisian evening, the perfect relaxation after the afternoon’s commitments.

Reflections and Itinerary:

  • First of all, a nice dinner to enjoy the local cuisine.
  • Then, a stroll along the iconic Champs-Élysées, admiring the shops and the vibrant atmosphere.
  • The final destination was the Arc de Triomphe, admired in all its evening majesty, fully illuminated. A perfect final image for the autumn weekend in Paris.

Planning Your Trip: What to See in Paris in 3, 4, or 5 Days

The real challenge in Paris is not what to see, but how to maximize your time to truly enjoy it. Our experiences show that the key is a flexible strategy tailored to the hours you have available.

If a single day is decidedly too short, even two short days—as happened to Gabriel—can be incredibly rewarding if you adopt the right mindset. Gabriel’s strategy was simple: focus on the essentials, prioritize walking, and soak up the atmosphere—an approach that guarantees satisfaction.

If you have three full days, you have the freedom to follow the comprehensive itinerary below and comfortably cover all the highlights. And if you have a few more days? Even better!

Day 1: The Parisian Debut: From the Eiffel Tower to the Champs-Élysées

The first day begins with breakfast in one of Paris’s typical cafes, followed by a visit to the Eiffel Tower, perhaps including lunch at the tower. In the afternoon, a cruise or stroll along the Seine is perfect, and for the evening, we recommend an Evening on the Champs-Élysées.

  • Breakfast in one of Paris’s typical bars
  • Visit to the Eiffel Tower + lunch on the tower.
  • Cruise or walk on the Seine
  • Evening on the Champs-Élysées

Day 2: Culture, Parisian Charm and Panoramic Views

The second day is dedicated to culture or relaxation: you can opt for a visit to the Louvre Museum or a stroll through the Tuileries Garden and areas of Paris you missed the previous day, such as Boulevard Saint-Germain. On this street, you’ll also see the famous Café de Flore. For dinner, Le Relais de L’Entrecôte is an excellent choice, before concluding the evening with a view of Paris from the top of the Montparnasse Tower.

  • Louvre Museum or walk in the Tuileries Garden and areas of Paris not visited the previous day
  • Boulevard Saint-Germain. On this street you’ll also see the famous Café de Flore.
  • Dinner at Le Relais de l’Entrecôte
  • View of Paris at night from the Montparnasse Tower.

Day 3: The Final Choice: Bohemian Charm (Montmartre) or Royal Grandeur (Versailles)?

To conclude your trip with a grand finale, you have the option of choosing between two very different thematic itineraries :

  • Option 1: Bohemian Charm and Impressionist Masters: Spend the morning losing yourself in the unique atmosphere of Montmartre, visiting the majestic Sacré-Coeur basilica and the famous artists’ quarter. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in art at the Musée d’Orsay, the former train station now a treasure trove of masterpieces by Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, and all the great Impressionists.
  • Option 2: Royal Grandeur: A Day at Versailles Set aside the entire day to visit the sumptuous Palace of Versailles. You’ll explore the historic palace, the famous Hall of Mirrors, and its immense gardens, for a true journey into the history of the French monarchy. Read the article: Is Versailles worth it for a short Paris Trip?

Extending Your Stay: 4 and 5 Day Options

  • Visiting Paris in 4 Days: With an extra day, you can easily turn Option 1 and Option 2 of Day 3 into two full days. Instead of having to choose, you can dedicate one full day to Montmartre/Musée d’Orsay and another full day to the majesty of Versailles.
  • Visiting Paris in 5 Days: If your trip extends to a full five days, you’ll have the perfect time to add a touch of magic: dedicate the last day to visiting Disneyland Paris.

🎯 Choose Your Strategy Based on Time

Here is the golden rule for tackling your Parisian adventure:

  1. If you have only 1 day: Focus intensely on one area (e.g., the Eiffel Tower/Seine) and enjoy the atmosphere. Do not rush.
  2. If you have 2 days (Gabriel’s Strategy): Concentrate on the absolute essentials (like the surprise view of the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame) and prioritize walking and soaking up the atmosphere.
  3. If you have 3 full days: You can comfortably follow the comprehensive itinerary below, covering the main highlights, culture, and iconic views.
  4. If you have 4 or 5 days: You have the luxury of including major attractions outside the city (like Versailles) and dedicating time to a truly relaxed, museum-focused pace.

Ready to Go: The Magic of Paris Awaits You!

Whether you choose summer for the long days of light, autumn for its warm colors and unexpected surprises like the one experienced by Gabriel, or whether you have three full days or only two short ones: Paris is a city that never ceases to amaze. As we have seen, the only true golden rule is to personalize the trip according to the time you have available and your desires: allow yourself time to walk, look up, absorb the atmosphere in the cafés, and experience the city step by step.

FAQs

How many days do I really need for a full Paris itinerary?

Our guide is flexible, but 3 full days are perfect for hitting the main highlights and enjoying the vibe. With 4 or 5 days, you can add Versailles or Disneyland, but even with just 2 short days, focus on a “Walking Strategy” to grab the main icons and the city’s atmosphere.

Do I need to book tickets for major attractions (Louvre, Eiffel Tower) in advance?

Absolutely. Pre-booking your tickets online is not just recommended—it’s essential to skip the massive queues and guarantee entry, especially for the Louvre Museum and the Eiffel Tower. Book as soon as your travel dates are set.

What is the best way to soak up the authentic Parisian atmosphere?

The best way is to commit to a “Walking Strategy.” Many iconic spots (the Seine, Louvre, Notre Dame) are close together. Walking allows you to discover unexpected moments, like Gabriel’s sudden Eiffel Tower view, and truly absorb the café culture.

What are the main differences between visiting Paris in summer versus fall/winter?

Summer offers long daylight hours and the magic of the Eiffel Tower’s sparkling lights lasting until very late. Fall/Winter (like Gabriel’s trip) means fewer crowds, warm colors, a cozier atmosphere, and the stunning evening lights coming on much earlier (as early as 6 PM).
