Arrival and the Beach in the Morning

Arriving around ten in the morning, we found the beach almost deserted, immersed in an incredibly calm atmosphere. The beach is made of small, non-annoying pebbles, which distinguish it from others with finer sand. The water is just as you’d expect in Mykonos: crystal clear and inviting, perfect for walking along the shore. A few meters from the shoreline, you can also notice some flat submerged rocks that create a very suggestive color contrast.

The Mykonos Paradise: Tropicana Beach between Morning and Party

We visited Paradise Beach in Mykonos, the famous beach that hosts the well-known Tropicana Beach Bar. While everyone knows this place for its wild afternoon parties, we were lucky enough to discover its most unusual side: the tranquility of the morning.

The Calm Before the Storm

Arriving around 10:00 a.m., the atmosphere was incredibly peaceful. The beach was almost deserted and the Tropicana, known for its parties, was enveloped in an unsuspected quiet. It was a fascinating contrast: a place of extreme partying that, in the morning, looks like any other relaxing beach in Greece. The environment was frequented by calm people, including families and young people who were only looking for relaxation.

The Tropicana Paradox: Morning Peace vs. Midnight Energy

If you think Tropicana is only about loud music and beach parties, you’re missing out on its best-kept secret: breakfast at 10:00 AM. On August 7, 2025, we decided to visit this legendary spot early in the morning, and it was a revelation. The massive tables that would soon be crowded with party-goers were almost empty. We sat comfortably in this tropical setting, enjoying a silence that felt impossible for Mykonos. It didn’t even feel like being on the world’s most famous party island; it felt like a hidden, tranquil paradise where the only sound was the waves.

Vitamin Boost with a View: My Pancake Ritual

As many of you know, I have a non-negotiable vacation ritual: pancakes with honey and fresh fruit. While I spent most of my week exploring the local bakeries in Ano Mera—which are fantastic for traditional pies and sweets —nothing compared to having my ‘vitamin boost’ here.

At the Tropicana bar, I found exactly what I was looking for: a massive, delicious portion of pancakes enjoyed while staring at the crystal-clear sea. It was the perfect way to recharge before the island’s energy shifted. It’s a reminder that even in the most crowded spots, you can find a heart-warming, personal moment if you time it right.

The Secret Morning of Paradise Beach: My 10 AM Ritual

Many know Paradise Beach as the loud, energetic heart of Mykonos parties, but if you arrive at 10:00 AM, you’ll discover a completely different world. In this video, I want to show you the ‘unknown beauty’ of this iconic spot. Sitting at the massive, comfortable tables of Tropicana, I enjoyed the rare tranquillity of a desert beach, accompanied only by a soft morning beat and my non-negotiable vacation ritual: fluffy pancakes with honey and fresh fruit.

Don’t Let the “Party” Label Scare You: Our Slow Morning Strategy

If you’ve heard that Paradise Beach is only about loud music and chaotic crowds, you might feel hesitant to even step foot there, especially in August. But here’s the truth: don’t let that reputation stop you.

As you can see from our experience, if you arrive by 10:00 AM, you can enjoy the beach for what it truly is. You don’t have to commit to a sunbed or a party; you can simply take a peaceful stroll along the shore, feel the morning breeze, and grab a table like we did.

That morning, Paradise Beach turned into our open-air office. While I was soaking in the ‘unknown beauty’ of the empty shore, Gabriel had some urgent work to finish on his laptop—you can even catch a glimpse of him focused on his screen in the video! I pulled out my tablet too, enjoying the rare luxury of working with a view of the turquoise sea and a plate of fluffy pancakes.

It was the perfect way to compare the different souls of Mykonos without the pressure of the crowds. Since ‘free beach’ space is almost non-existent here, treating the morning as a calm stop-over is the ultimate pro-tip. After our ‘vitamin boost’ and finishing our tasks, we simply packed up and headed to Mykonos Town, leaving just as the first party-goers were starting to arrive.

Don’t miss out on seeing this iconic location just because you fear the August rush—there is a window of tranquility waiting for you if you know when to look for it.

The Characteristics of the Beach and the Tropicana

  • The Beach: Despite not being made of very fine sand, the beach is covered in small, non-annoying pebbles. The water is crystal clear and, a few meters from the shore, flat rocks are visible. A special touch is added by the palm trees, scattered both behind and in the middle of the beach, which give it an almost Caribbean atmosphere.
  • The Venue: We entered and parked our car in the Tropicana car park, which we believe is free for customers. We took advantage of the venue for a rich breakfast, with generous portions of omelettes and pancakes. In the morning, the Tropicana offers the perfect environment for breakfast or renting sunbeds, a far cry from its nightclub persona.

The Change: From Relaxation to Party

Around 4:00-4:30 p.m., the beach undergoes a complete transformation. The music turns up and the people change: groups of young people arrive, specifically looking for nightlife and the opportunity to party. The true magic of this place lies not only in the venue itself, but in its ability to completely change its character depending on the time of day and the type of crowd.

Useful Information (August 2025)

We also noted some practical details:

  • Airport: The airport is very close and you can see planes passing by often, but the noise is not annoying and is covered by the music when the party starts.
  • Sunbed and Umbrella Rental:
    • First row: €100 (2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella)
    • Second row: €80 (2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella)
    • Mandatory minimum spend: €30 per person on food and drinks.

The Tropicana Beach Bar: From Breakfast to Party

Is there a free beach at Paradise Beach in Mykonos? The beating heart of Paradise Beach is the Tropicana, a beach bar and nightclub famous throughout the island. We entered through here, taking advantage of the free parking for customers. In the morning, the place is the ideal spot for a generous and delicious breakfast, like the pancakes and omelettes we tried. The atmosphere is relaxed and frequented by calm people and families.

However, the real show begins around 4:00 p.m. The music gets louder, the atmosphere heats up, and the Tropicana transforms into an open-air nightclub. The beach fills up with young people, ready to dance and party, confirming its reputation as a nightlife destination. The huge contrast between the peace of the morning and the energy of the afternoon is what makes Paradise Beach such a special place.

Free Beach or… just the shoreline?

It is important to note that at Paradise Beach there is no real free beach. Most of the shoreline is occupied by the sunbeds and umbrellas of the beach bars. If you want to lay out your towel for free, the only option is to position yourself directly on the shoreline, the thin strip of beach wet by the waves. This creates a strong visual contrast, with colorful towels placed just a few meters from the luxurious rows of paid sunbeds.

Here’s how people arrange themselves on the shore due to the lack of a proper free beach. Check out this video clip: https://youtu.be/Mv3f7Xr5Soc?si=C0keqBhmM32nAALK&t=193.

Useful Information and Unique Features

Adding a unique touch to the atmosphere are the palm trees that sprout on the sand, giving the beach an almost Caribbean look. Another distinctive element is the proximity to the airport, where planes pass often but without the noise becoming a real nuisance.

For those wishing to use the Tropicana’s services, here are the prices for two sunbeds and an umbrella (August 2025):

  • 1st row: 100 euros
  • 2nd row: 80 euros

A mandatory minimum spend of 30 euros per person for food and drinks is also required.

Specific Questions about Paradise Beach

If you are planning your day at Paradise Beach, you may have some specific questions. Here are the answers based on our experience.

  • What is the best time to visit Paradise Beach? It depends on what you’re looking for. If you want to enjoy the sea in peace, with a relaxed atmosphere and a sea view breakfast, the morning is ideal. If, however, you’re in Mykonos to party, dance with friends and experience the energy of the beach clubs, late afternoon is the perfect time to arrive.
  • Is the sand really made of pebbles? Yes, the beach is composed of pebbles, but they are small and don’t bother you when you walk barefoot. It’s not a fine sand beach like you’d find in other areas, but the clear water and surrounding landscape make this a negligible detail.
  • Who is this beach recommended for? The beauty of Paradise Beach is that it’s suitable for different types of travelers. In the morning it’s a great choice for families and couples looking for relaxation. As the hours pass, it becomes a paradise for young people and party-goers who want to have fun, meet people, and fully experience the famous Mykonos nightlife.
