The northern end of the beach is also where the action is:
- Boat Excursions: Crucially, while Lindos Main Beach is the larger destination, the main jetty for boat trips and sea excursions to nearby spots like St. Paul’s Bay and the sea caves is located at the adjacent Pallas Beach. Visitors can easily access the pier by continuing along the shore, and for simplicity, the entire area is often collectively referred to as the main hub for sea excursions.

In the shoulder season (late September/early October), the beach can be entirely shaded by mid-to-late afternoon (around 5 PM).

However, the location—right on the edge of St. Paul’s Bay—is absolutely stunning and incredibly inviting. Making a reservation here will definitely be a priority for our next visit to Lindos!

Vlicha Bay Beach, also known as Paralia Vlicha, is situated just a few kilometers north of Lindos. It is a long and beautiful stretch of sand and pebbles that stands out for offering a distinctly more relaxed atmosphere compared to the busier, central beaches near the village. Awarded the prestigious Blue Flag for the high quality of its waters and services, Vlicha is considered a true oasis of peace.
Its length and generally less-crowded nature allow for ample space to spread out and relax. The waters are transparent, and bathing conditions are often calm as the bay is naturally sheltered from the winds.
Regarding the shoreline, while it is composed of small pebbles, walking on it is comfortable and not bothersome. This is because underneath the pebbles, there is coarse sand, which provides cushioning and makes walking easier, even without beach shoes. While walking on fine sand is arguably better, the experience here is not painful or overly annoying.
This beach is well-equipped and is home to several luxury hotels and resorts, such as the 5-star Lindos Bay Hotel, which overlooks the shoreline. For guests of these accommodations, it is a great benefit to have sunbeds and umbrellas included in the stay. A particularly useful service offered from this beach is the water taxi (boat) service directly to Rhodes Town. This option is perfect for those who are a bit older or simply wish to reach the capital by sea, enjoying a scenic journey as an alternative to driving.

A notable advantage of Vlicha Bay is the ease of access and parking. Being located outside the main built-up area of Lindos, parking is generally available and free of charge in this area, which is a significant benefit compared to more central or crowded locations.
🌅 Vlicha Bay in Late September/Early October: The Off-Season Experience
The period between late September and early October is a magical time to visit Vlicha. The beach is noticeably quieter, and one can fully enjoy the sound of the sea, with the noise of the waves breaking, all framed by a beautiful surrounding headland.
Unlike other locations, swimming at Vlicha is absolutely possible even during this period. The water is transparent and incredibly inviting, proving to be quite mild and not cold at all. Although fewer people swim early in the morning (like at 10:00 AM), getting into the water is easy and pleasant; the water is so agreeable that it is often difficult to want to get out! You can even spot small fish swimming near the water’s edge.
Sea conditions vary depending on the wind: sometimes it is very calm, while other times, if the day is slightly breezy (as on September 30th), the sea can be a bit choppy. In any case, swimming is always highly recommended.
One important note is the seabed: at Vlicha, the floor slopes quite rapidly after the first few meters from the entrance, quickly becoming deep. While there is a safe space for swimming near the shore, this characteristic makes it more suitable for older children who swim well, rather than very small children who would require constant supervision.

Vlicha Bay offers various dining options, thanks to the presence of beachside restaurants and cafes, and especially the hotel restaurants that look directly onto the coastline. Having the chance to dine with a sea view, whether during the day or in the evening, is certainly a great advantage.
Off-season dining allows one to fully enjoy local specialties with flexibility in dish selection. Dining at the seaside restaurants in late September, with milder, less intensely hot temperatures than the peak season, allows for choosing more substantial and flavorful meals, such as a mixed meat grill with pita, fries, and vegetables, which makes for a great start to the week, unlike in August, when one might prefer lighter options like Greek salads or fish.

An additional feature that enhances the visitor experience at Vlicha Bay Beach is the presence of walkways (passerelle) installed over the stones for a significant stretch of the shore.

You can comfortably enjoy a short walk to admire the beautiful evening setting without getting your feet sandy or bruised.

The sun’s journey over Vlicha Bay is quite distinct: while the sunrise appears beautifully in front (peeking from behind the headland to the right), the afternoon sun actually sets behind the beach. This practical detail means many people eventually turn their chairs away from the water to tan, but for me, the emotional draw of the sea is simply too strong.
I found myself choosing to keep facing the water, even in the late afternoon, because watching the waves, observing the little boats pass, and soaking in the general beach life was a captivating and moving experience that I prioritized over sun exposure. Beyond that afternoon serenity, waking up to see the sunrise from the hotel overlooking the bay was absolutely fantastic and an unforgettable, truly emotional highlight of the trip.
